This patient was finding it difficult to pass urine. On further questioning, it was established that he had an enlarged prostate and consequently was on Tamsulosin. That could also be indicative of the presentation of urinary retention. With the presentation that was seen with this patient, it was important for us to act quickly. Because of his history, it also pointed to urinary retention. Because of this patient presentation and the history of prostate problems, it is important that we rule out urinary retention, so therefore, this patient would be seen in A&E.
